Wow you guys, this scene kind of broke my heart. If you look closely he looks at Jamie’s face when he asks the question. He’s legitimately curious and wants to know about the book. He wants Jamie to answer. He wants someone to talk to. And when, Claude and Caleb I think their names are, push Jamie playfully, you can see Jack’s smile disappear for a moment and it’s just so sad.
